MOOJA started with a simple question: why isn't Caribbean cuisine getting the same love as Italian, Indian, or Chinese food?

We wanted to move away from traditional, gatekept methods and introduce a new, exciting premium brand that celebrates a blend of cultures.

The word MOOJA is inspired by 'Moja', Swahili for 'one' and signifies unity. Just like London’s melting pot, it represents the coming together of two worlds: Caribbean roots and London culture, but blended into something new.

That blend?

It's everything MOOJA represents.

THE MAKERS
OF MOOJA

A group of women gathered around, looking at something together, in a social setting, with one woman in focus wearing glasses and a rust-colored sweater.
Three people cooking together in a kitchen, frying food in a skillet, with bowls and kitchen utensils on the counter, and a large window in the background showing an outdoor garden.
Two braised beef shanks garnished with chopped herbs and sliced red peppers on a white plate.

OUR STORY

Before MOOJA, we had a cooking school called AllSpice Kitchen. The cooking school connected people, food, Caribbean history and created a comfortable environment to learn how to cook contemporary versions of Caribbean meals, opposed to traditional methods.

People loved it and that response showed us something important: there was real hunger for Caribbean cuisine done differently. AllSpice Kitchen became the foundation for MOOJA's early designs, it helped to shape what we're building now.

OUR ETHOS

We’re not here to reinvent Caribbean food, we simply want to show a different side to Caribbean cuisine, whilst staying true to our roots. Our ethos is made up of three different principles, all equally important to us as founders and the MOOJA mission.

Celebrate our roots.
Caribbean cuisine is world-class and deserves recognition.

Pay homage to our city.
South London shaped us, its energy is in every bite.

Introduce new Caribbean flavours to
the world.
We still honour tradition, but have a contemporary edge.
